Verizon Fios Causing Poor GDO Range
There have been several complaints regarding poor garage door openers
radio range when used in homes containing a Verizon FIOS system. FIOS
is a fibre optic system that provides digital telephone, internet and
video.
The specific product that has been found to radiate interference with the
garage door openers is a model ONT 611(see image left). The model
number is indicated on the front cover of the system (circled in red).
Verizon is currently in the process of providing a replacement cover
which will have an integrated radio shield. Although this new cover is not
yet available, Verizon is willing to help. To receive technical assistance
with the Verizon FIOS call 1-800-483-1000, be sure to provide the
homeowners’ name, address and telephone number.
